About Splash

Soul Crushing blues riffs and powerful vocal arrangements are the defining sonic elements of the four-piece band Glass Ampp. Its members, who are childhood friends, hail from Maple, Ontario (Toronto Suburb) – Steve Porretta (lead vocals, rhythm guitar); Gianluca Mauro (lead guitar, backup vocals); Anthony Ascenzi (drums); Steve Piersanti (bass).

These remarkably talented artists are on the verge of launching their fourth self titled EP, produced by Steve Molella (Finger Eleven) with whom the band instantly connected. The launch of their lead single, by the same name, was released August 4th, 2016 – “This song is about the anxieties, regrets and miscommunications that people beat themselves up about” (Steve/lead vocals).

Following a relentless torrent of song writing sessions, Glass Ampp modernized their rock/blues sound – “We finally have a record that captures the energy of our live performances” (Anthony/drums). There are five tracks on this new, self-funded EP – “In My Head”, “River”, “Louie”, “How Do I Know” and “Breathing”. They were recorded at Steve Molella’s private, in-house studio. The songs on this EP demonstrate the band’s talent and distinctive sound that separates them from all other Indie bands – “Amazing band with an endless supply of killer riffs and great melodies! A real treat to work with” (Molella/producer).

Glass Ampp’s lead single “How it’s Gonna Go” off their third EP Jellyfish (2014) was played by major Ontario Rock radio stations, including: 97.7 HTZ-FM; 94.9 The Rock (Oshawa); Rock 95 (Barrie); and Y108 (Hamilton). This EP produced by Matthew Von Wagner (USS, Crystal Castles) holds three other original songs – “Breakaway”, “Stranger”, and “She Don’t Want You”.

In the summer of 2015 while in the midst of their southeastern United States tour, Glass Ampp returned to participate in the 97.7 HTZ-FM (St. Catharines, ON) “Rocksearch” competition. They competed against 160 local bands and finished second. 97.7HTZ-FM then featured them on their website under Bands on the Verge.

In the spring of 2014 Glass Ampp beat out 30 bands to win the Rock95 (Barrie, ON) “Local and Loud” radio competition. They have shared the stage with some of Canada’s top rock acts, including Big Wreck, Monster Truck and The Headstones.

In the summer of 2015 Glass Ampp toured the southeastern United States hitting cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Virginia Beach, Long Island, Charlotte, Cleveland, Kent (Ohio), and Waterbury (Connecticut), where they continued to build their North American fan base. “The intense connection with our audiences that we experience at every show is what we’re all about”-states (Gianluca/lead guitar).

Alan Cross, 102.1 The Edge (Toronto), on ”A Journal of Musical Things!” blog, described Glass Ampp’s song “I Know You Know” (Half Empty EP, 2013) as a “slow moving, blues-rock song with soul.”
